Using howt.io without an account

You can use the basic features of howt.io for free and without an account. This includes creating documents, using the editor with all its features to compose documents, creating and styling custom templates and exporting documents to certain export formats .

So for basic workflows, the app is entirely free and no account is needed.

The app works on your machine and the document you are working on as well as your locally created templates are stored in your browser's local storage. This means, even after you close the page/browser and come back to the app, your changes will not be lost and you can continue working on it.

This is not entirely safe though, because some events might clear up your local storage. This could be a browser update or when you clear your browsers cache - also, your data is not persistent across devices, so you will ultimately lose data when you don't save it on an account. This is mostly fine for one-time work.

For everything that you want to persist, you need to have an account. For example to save documents or to create multiple documents, consider creating an account.
